Frost, Woodland and The Muffler

Here in Scotland it is frosty with a capital F.  Mia was keen to wear her new headgear, which I’ve aptly named “The Muffler” and was willing to have some shots taken. A win-win all round.

We are so fortunate to have this country park literally on our doorstep. It was quiet this morning – only  the odd dog walker, so we almost had the place to ourselves.  Cold set in quick, Mia’s nose was starting to go red (not being one for photoshop or a moaning teenager)  – we headed home after 20 minutes or so.

What Gets Me Through The Week……

It’s Monday, it is going to be a long week work wise. I loved my weekend, I filled it with friends, laughter, photography and culture thrown in. Having a great weekend really does help me get through my early starts and busy work days. I think Autumn is my favourite season.  The light is great and nature is starting to get a little rough around the edges….just how I like it.  Here some of my images from yesterdays day out…

Looking Back……Looking Up and Ahead

Going through some old images I found this one of my Mum when we visited the Botanics, probably two years ago now, when she and Dad were up visiting.  Incidentally, one of me favourite images of my Dad was taken there.  Mum and Dad are visiting this coming weekend, which I am looking forward to.  We will drink lots of wine, play cribbage, talk a lot of crap and hopefully soak up some of the Edinburgh Fringe atmosphere.

Project 7……Day 2

I started off my day walking at Blackness with Alfie and David – first past the castle, then through woodland and then cutting  onto the beach to collect shells and sea glass for displaying my tealights.  Not many finds today – David was collecting sea glass for me that I kept throwing away as it wasn’t worn enough.  He moaned I was too picky.  I love how the woodland meets with the beach and spills out onto it with wild flowers growing in the sand amongst driftwood.

For the most part of the afternoon and into early evening I was painting the wigwam – inside and out.  I loved the way the light was falling on the white inside walls through the portholes David has made in the roof.  I cannot wait until it is finally finished and we can enjoy sitting in it and sleeping semi outside.  It seems a long way off as I have changed the colour today on the outside today and there still is no front door!

Dogs in the fog……

This afternoon I had a quick photo shoot.  Photographing animals can be like photographing children – unpredictable and you have to be quick!  When we arrived at our location – the Scottish fog was thick and plenty, very atmospheric, although not ideal as my client wanted lovely images of her two dogs Bella and Griff.  Thankfully I managed to get some lovely shots of them in the woods where the trees soaked up some of the harl, this shot though is my favourite as it sums up the afternoon.

One Man and His Dog

I am so loving Spring evenings, the light here is beautiful and makes such a welcoming break from the grey skies we have had over winter.

Grandtully in Scotland is a special place, it is peaceful yet the water is wild.  Here David sits on a rock with Alfie, his wing man, watching the boys taming the water in their slalom boats.

Beach Finds in Monochrome…..

Spending time with great friends…… a coastal walk, collecting shells and feasting on figs, mango, flapjack and sandwiches whilst soaking up the rays on a sand dune.  Another perfect way to way to pass the time.

We each made a collage of shells, a snippet of simple creativity.

Location – Gullane, Scotland

Simply Sunday……Washed Up

This morning was so beautiful. And rare. We got up early and went down to Blackness Beach to walk Alfie.  The sun was shining, the air crisp and clear whilst I collected washed up sea glass, shells and discarded feathers.

Location – Blackness
