Who made it November when it’s May? A chilled Sunday after a four day week photographing groups and documenting a conference. A quick stop for a portrait in between showers after brunch.

Today has been one for chores. Boring with a capital B. For the most part, the sun has been splitting the sky here in Scotland, which has been rare here the past few weeks. Annoying then that I had a pile of things to do before I get back to work tomorrow.
I’ve kept myself going by stopping for shortbread laced with Nutella, endless cups of tea and the odd bit of photography thrown in.
Here are todays results. No people. Just detail.

If I am being honest…..I’m not a big fan of Christmas and breathe a sigh of relief when it is all over. I hate the build up, the over indulgence and the vulgarity that sometimes now goes hand in hand with it. This morning, family had left and were safe home, the sun was shining and after my second cup of tea in bed – things felt like they were sliding back into place.
I took these shots on my OM-D EM-1 of Jonny, him looking at me whilst I pranced around the frosty garden in my ever so practical ballet flats with still wet freshly showered hair.

It’s Monday, it is going to be a long week work wise. I loved my weekend, I filled it with friends, laughter, photography and culture thrown in. Having a great weekend really does help me get through my early starts and busy work days. I think Autumn is my favourite season. The light is great and nature is starting to get a little rough around the edges….just how I like it. Here some of my images from yesterdays day out…

Earth Moon Earth by Katie Paterson a stunning installation at Jupiter Artland is one of the many wonderful things there to get your creative juices going…… a kind of self playing piano. Shame I was a little too late in going this year (Sunday was the last day, and God how I loved it). That will teach me.

If you are like me…when you work flat out all week and have a busy family life you want to squeeze the most out of the weekends. I hate that feeling when the alarm goes off at 6 am on a Monday morning and you feel unfulfilled.
I haven’t had a busy weekend, it’s been relatively laid back and easy. Twelve Years a Slave on Friday night at my local independent cinema Boness Hipppodrome – left me feeling emotionally drained. Saturday I pottered, after picking up this pre-loved chair that I have had specifically painted in zingy yellow from The Wee Vintage Shop (weirdly engraved with my maiden initials!) and today I have been for afternoon tea with friends in the cosy vintage styled Brodies and stuffed myself with hummus sandwiches and coconut scones. All in all it has been an easy weekend – but I want it to continue…….I’m already dreading that alarm going off tomorrow.

I spent Sunday afternoon in Edinburgh on a photo shoot. It was windy, rainy and generally bleek for the most part. I chose an alley as our location – I figured it would be sheltered, relatively free of people and provided some interesting street backdrops. Old buildings provide such beauty and this lettering on Edinburgh’s Topshop building is intriguing, simple and to me – beautiful.
